How To Get Better Sleep

We spend up to a third of our lives asleep, so we need to make it count.

A quality mattress is key to a good shut-eye. Here are 6 other top tips to help you get your best rest yet:

Try and squeeze in some form of exercise in the day. Even just a few minutes of physical activity can help you fall asleep faster, and deeper.

Avoid big meals before bedtime – especially meals that are protein-heavy. If you need to have a late supper, try and keep it light.

Create a sleep schedule and try to stick to the same bedtime and wake-up time, even on weekends. Some suggest setting an alarm to go to bed.

Create a relaxing bedtime ritual to wind you down before bedtime. Dim the lights, switch off those electronic devices at least an hour before bed, and indulge in something that relaxes you.

Keep noisy watches and buzzing phones outside the bedroom. Counter outside noises and snoring partners with earplugs.

Remove all light sources during sleep. Lights trigger the brain to stay alert and even the small glow of a digital clock can affect your sleep’s quality. An eye-mask is a great investment.
